Preparing Plants for a Move
There are many things that you can do in order to prepare your plants for your move. Gathering information on plants and how to move them is the
best thing you can do to prepare. You should also consider pruning plants so that packing them is easier. Many florists can also offer information
that can help you during this time.
Kill Pests First
Before you pack your plants for the actual move, you should make sure that they are pest free. The best way to do this is to place your plants in a
black plastic bag with a bug strip or common flea collar. Leave your plants like this overnight in order to kill any bugs or pests that may have made
their home in your plants. Make sure that the plastic bag is sealed closed so that the bugs do not escape.
Packing Your Plants
You should pack your plants in a cardboard box on the day of your move. You can cushion the leaves by placing damp paper towels or newspapers
around them. Make sure to cover the plants with more damp paper towels in order to keep the plants moist. This will keep the plants alive and will
prevent them from drying out during your move. If you have hired a moving company to move your things, make sure that you label this box so
that they do not load it into the truck.
Moving Your Plants
You should be prepared to transport your houseplants in your own vehicle. It is important to keep the temperature as stable as possible when you
are driving so that you do not create extra stress on these plants. Make sure you park in a shady spot during the summer and a sunny spot during the
winter. This will help your plants stay healthy throughout the trip
